Contracts and Claims Manager

Purpose:

Responsible for review of terms and conditions of contracts. Identify and report potential problems, particularly those that are likely to give rise to claims. Generally, monitor and report on the progress of multiple construction contracts. Flag issues that might result in delay or claim and advise the project managers of any risks that will affect the overall timely delivery of the project or significant cost escalation or potential opportunities for cost reduction. Provide proactive advice so as to minimize claims and delay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist with dispute resolution and claims planning matters on multiple projects, including construction scheduling, delay and disruption analysis.
  • Demonstration of entitlement to EoT occurring as a result of delay/ disruption/ loss of efficiency.
  • Other responsibilities also included defining the notification requirements under contracts for EoT and setting up a standardized system to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring the successful execution of site construction contracts according to agreed commercial obligations, financial and qualitative targets.
  • Assists in instituting contract policies, procedures, and systems to ensure a uniform method of working that delivers exceptional contract performance values for the company and its clients.
  • Familiarization with Arbitration procedures and administration.

 

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from an accredited University, further studies are desirable.
  • Professional qualifications such as; MSc in Construction Law & Arbitration, MCIArb or similar equivalents are desired but not essential.
  • Shall have not less than 15 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, as well as scheduling software such as Primavera and Microsoft Project.
  • A history of delivering delay analysis commissions including schedule analysis and report writing.
